Nestled in the heart of the Cajun Coast, just a few blocks away from the mighty Atchafalaya River and our Downtown Historic District.

The perfect spot to make your home base for exploring south Louisiana; easy day trip to Lafayette, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and the Great River Road!

The private suite is part of my historic late 1800s home and is a cozy cottage style retreat. Guests can kick back and relax with no worries about propping up their feet or stretching out for a nap. You are also welcome to enjoy the back yard patio (your private entrance is here) and marvel at the wondrous live oak tree whose limbs completely cover the yard.

Please note: My home is located on a busy corner and is directly on the BNSF Railroad line with a crossing at the corner. Trains run day and night, the crossing bells ring, and you will hear the train whistle. If you are a light sleeper, my guest suite may not be the place for you. However, many guests have said they weren't bothered at all, and being near the train tracks brings back a sense of days gone by.

The guest suite part of the house was an addition in the 1920s. It is not a purpose-built b&b; it was renovated with the rest of the house in the late 20-aughts to serve as my personal guest rooms, so it does contain personal items but has plenty of space for you to spread out and make yourself at home. Elements of the original space were left in place, such as all the original windows and original wooden floors.

This cozy living area is designed for comfort and convenience, featuring a futon that provides extra sleeping space when needed for additional guests, a breakfast table for relaxed morning meals, complimentary coffee service, Smart TV, and a convenient kitchenette area. For added peace of mind, the futon includes a removable cover that is freshly washed after every stay—so you never have to wonder how clean the surfaces are.

A short hallway allows access to a spacious private bathroom and bedroom (full-size bed). The doorway to the right accesses the owner's portion of the house and is locked during guest stays.

Views of the front of the house facing Railroad Avenue - unfortunately I lost the big oak tree last year so the front is now very naked, and I'm still working on getting grass to grow. The image on the right is the shared driveway on Federal Avenue. The steps are your private entrance directly into the Guest Suite.

Hours

Always Open, but CONTACT HOURS are 10am - 8pm Central Time. Check-in is usually 3pm - 6pm with Check-out at 11am. Keyless Entry, so these hours can be altered to suit your schedule.
